To understand the“Chinese path to modernization”from the perspective of political geography holds significant practical and theoretical value. The political geographical framework of the Chinese path to modernization has specific formation foundations, encompassing both theoretical underpinnings—such as Marxist world history theory, Lenin's theory of imperialism, and the political geographical ideas of successive CPC leaders—and practical bases—like the accelerating evolution of a once-in-a-century global transformation and the pivotal historical phase of the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation entering an irreversible trajectory. The political geographical framework of the Chinese path to modernization is rich in connotation, characterized by: a regional coordinated development model of“a unified chessboard across the nation”as a key cornerstone, border security governance and development as a strategic safeguard, safeguarding core national interests and managing neighborhood relations as practical considerations, expanding and mitigating political geographical spaces for cooperation as a solid support, and upholding the vision of a shared future for mankind as the highest aspiration. This framework exhibits distinct features, including the synchronous resonance of historical and contemporary rhythms, the interplay between grounding in national conditions and perceiving global dynamics, the organic unity of constancy and evolution, and the interdependence of struggle and peaceful development.

The cultural subjectivity of the Chinese nation is a specific manifestation of cultural subjectivity, reflecting the consciousness, innovative creativity, autonomy, and independence demonstrated by the Chinese nation in cultural practice. The contemporary embodiment of the Chinese nation's cultural subjectivity includes firm self-awareness in cultural cognition, clear and steadfast principles in cultural theory, historical consciousness in cultural development, and independent autonomy in cultural spirit. Cultural hegemony is an expression of power rooted in the objective existence of culture, which determines that upholding the Party's cultural leadership cannot be achieved without the strong support of cultural subjectivity as an inherent cultural imperative. Upholding the cultural subjectivity of the Chinese nation is a logical necessity for maintaining the Party's cultural leadership, where firm self-awareness in cultural cognition serves as the fundamental prerequisite for defining the direction of cultural development, clear and steadfast principles in cultural theory act as a crucial guarantee for driving cultural innovation and progress, historical consciousness in cultural development serves as the intrinsic force for coordinating cultural resource integration, and independent autonomy in cultural spirit represents the guiding principle for advancing the internal and external dissemination of culture. On the new journey, it is essential to continue upholding the cultural subjectivity of the Chinese nation by adhering to the Party's cultural leadership, following the fundamental principles of the“Two Combinations” (especially the“Second Combination”), empowering the people as the principal force in cultural innovation and creation, and focusing on the practical goal of fulfilling the cultural mission of promoting cultural prosperity and building a culturally strong nation in the new era.

Promoting green and innovative development of enterprises is a key approach to accelerating the development of new quality productivity under the high-quality development pattern. Based on the modern enterprise governance system with Chinese characteristics, this study takes Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2023 as samples to empirically demonstrate the impact of Party organization participation in governance on enterprise green innovation. The results show that the participation of the Party organization in governance can drive the“quantity increasing and quality improvement”of enterprise green innovation. The heterogeneity testing indicates that Party organization participation in the board and in the executive governance has a more significant promoting effect on green innovation in state-owned enterprises, while its involvement in the supervisory governance plays a more prominent role in private enterprises. Further research reveals that internal control and information disclosure positively moderate the mediating effect of innovation input between the participation of the Party organization in governance and green innovation, and that environmental taxes can enhance the promoting effect of the Party organization's participation in governance on green innovation, while government subsidies form a U-shaped interaction effect with the participation of the Party organization in governance. Therefore, it is necessary to effectively improve the efficiency of enterprise Party organization participation in governance by deepening the differentiated Party organization participation mechanism, constructing a collaborative governance system led by Party building, optimizing the synergistic effect of Party organizations and connections, and thereby driving the green innovation development of enterprises.

The National Key R&D Programs of China represents a concrete measure to uphold innovation-driven development, while total factor productivity serves as a key metric for evaluating enterprises' transition toward innovation-driven growth. The impact of the National Key R&D Programs of China on enterprises' total factor productivity requires scientific assessment. Based on the data of manufacturing enterprises on the A-share main board from 2011 to 2023, this paper conducts an empirical study by using the staggered double difference model. The findings show that national key R&D projects have a significant effect on improving the total factor productivity of manufacturing enterprises. This effect is achieved through promoting open innovation and improving the dual mechanism of resource allocation. Among them, improving resource allocation includes increasing attention resource allocation, talent allocation, and capital allocation. Meanwhile, this effect exhibits heterogeneity due to the differences in industries and in enterprise characteristics. To this end, it is necessary to further increase the proportion of enterprises' participation in national key R&D programs, deepen collaborative innovation between industry, academia, and research institutes, broaden public supervision channels, and build a diversified funding system with hierarchical classification to fully leverage the role of national key R&D programs.

Against the backdrop of sluggish global economic recovery, intensified geopolitical risks, technological blockades, and the restructuring of international rules, China's economy faces unprecedented external uncertainties, making certainty a scarce resource. How to maintain economic stability and strategic direction in a complex and volatile international situation has become an important issue facing current development. Centered around the core proposition of“responding to various uncertainties of rapid changes in the external environment with the certainty of high-quality development”, this paper delves into the theoretical basis and historical experience of how high-quality development can respond to various uncertainties, and analyzes the practical sources of certainty in high-quality development from five aspects: Party leadership, transformation of the principal contradiction in society, solid material and technological foundation, high-level opening up, and social consensus. Furthermore, in the context of various uncertainties, we should adhere to and strengthen the overall leadership of the Party, implement the new development concept, stabilize the basic operation of the economy, improve the macroeconomic governance system, persist in seeking progress while maintaining stability, accelerate the construction of a new development pattern, and promote the construction of a unified national market. We can consolidate the foundation of certainty in high-quality development to promote the continuous and healthy development of the economy and society.

High-quality economic development is an inevitable requirement for achieving Chinese type modernization, and digital infrastructure is an important support for realizing economic transformation and upgrading. Based on the panel data of 41 cities in the Yangtze River Delta from 2010 to 2022, this article explores the impact of digital infrastructure on the high-quality economic development and its spatial spillover effects, and conducts a convergence analysis on it. The research results show that digital infrastructure has significantly promoted the high-quality economic development of the Yangtze River Delta region. The promoting effect of digital governance on digital infrastructure shows a significant positive moderating effect, and the research conclusion remains valid after the robustness test. The heterogeneity analysis reveals that under different urban scales, the promoting effect of digital infrastructure on the economic vitality of non-large cities is significantly higher than that on other cities. The analysis of spatial spillover effects indicates that digital infrastructure not only significantly promotes the economic growth of local cities but also demonstrates a strong radiation effect on the economic growth of surrounding cities. The spatial convergence analysis indicates that β convergence exists in large cities, while α and β convergence occur simultaneously in non-large cities. This suggests that the moderating effect of digital infrastructure on the convergence speed of high-quality economic development in non-large cities is more significant than that in large cities. The above results indicate that strengthening the construction of digital infrastructure by the government has important policy significance in promoting regional coordinated development.

Against the backdrop of deep integration between digital intelligence and aging, promoting the high-quality development of smart and healthy elderly care products is a crucial measure to achieve the digital transformation of elderly care, foster the silver economy, and enhance the quality of life for the elderly. Based on the three phases of panel data from the China Aging Social Tracking Survey (2018-2023), this study empirically examines the impact of smart and healthy elderly care products on older adults' aging age identity. The findings reveal that such products can significantly improve the aging age identity among the elderly, with more pronounced effects among middle-aged and low-aged groups, women, urban residents, and those with better self-rated health. The mediation effect tests indicate that smart and healthy elderly care products can indirectly promote the formation of the positive aging age identity by enhancing individuals' self-efficacy and fostering social participation. Further analysis shows that health management and elderly care monitoring smart products play a significant positive role in shaping positive aging age identity, with a clear“cumulative effect”—the more products used, the more positive the aging age identity of the elderly. Therefore, in advancing the demonstration and pilot projects of smart and healthy elderly care, efforts should be coordinated on both supply and demand sides. While promoting the construction of the supply-side industrial chain and improving product quality, it is essential to strengthen the elderly's awareness of product usage and digital literacy on the demand side.

This paper considers the creation of the“Four Good Rural Roads” (FGRR) National Demonstration Counties as a quasi-natural experiment, and studies the impact of the construction of the FGRR on farmers' incomes and its mechanism of action. The study finds that the construction of the FGRR can significantly increase farmers' incomes, this conclusion remains valid after a series of robustness tests. The mechanism analysis reveals that the construction of FGRR influences farmers' income growth through three pathways: non-agricultural employment, technology adoption, and industrial development. The heterogeneity analysis further demonstrates that the more developed the economic level, the better the financial resources and“digital infrastructure”, the greater the extent to which the construction of FGRR can promote farmers' income growth. The construction of FGRR exhibits a significant spatial spillover effect, notably boosting farmers' income growth in the neighboring counties of demonstration counties, with this phenomenon being more pronounced in the eastern region. Therefore, the government should actively promote the coordinated development of rural road construction, management, maintenance, and operation, explore a multidimensional development path anchored in“labor force—technology—industry”, enhance the synergy between economic development and financial markets as well as“digital infrastructure”, and establish a cross-regional collaborative development mechanism, thereby achieving the goal of increasing farmers' income through the construction of FGRR.

Based on the survey data of 974 relocated households in 27 large and medium-sized centralized resettlement communities in the towns of Southwest China, this study examines the impact of the citizenship of rural-urban migrants on household consumption. The results show that citizenship has a significant“expansion and upgrading”effect on household consumption, with a greater impact on“upgrading”of consumption. For every one standard deviation increase in the level of urbanization, the total consumption of relocated households increases by 0.734%, development oriented consumption increases by 3.805%, and the Engel coefficient decreases by 14.298%. Citizenship affects household consumption by reducing employment instability and income uncertainty, connecting urban social security systems, and changing consumer reference groups. Compared to families in the start-up and support periods, urbanization has a more significant effect on promoting consumption in families in the support period, burden period, and stable period. The subsequent employment support has limited strengthening effect on household consumption in the low urbanization stage, while it has a significant weakening effect on household consumption in the high urbanization stage. Compared to job development policies, employment guidance and skill enhancement policies play a more significant role in weakening the consumption effect of urbanization. Therefore, it is necessary to target the relatively vulnerable groups to strengthen employment support and consolidate the economic foundation of citizen oriented consumption, to improve the level of social security and build a risk barrier for citizen oriented consumption, and to create differentiated consumption scenarios and enhance the subjective willingness of citizens to consume.

From the perspective of cultural spatial production, this paper takes S village in X County, Jiangxi Province as the research object to explore the practical path of traditional village culture contributing to rural revitalization. The findings show that: (1) The process of traditional village culture contributing to rural revitalization presents a three-stage evolution path of“cultural capital spatialization-cultural space reproduction-cultural space capitalization”, in which the spatialization stage anchors the abstract cultural resources into perceptible spatial carriers; the reproduction stage promotes the multi-dimensional reconstruction of material, spiritual and institutional cultural space, realizing the transformation of cultural capital into industrial kinetic energy; the capitalization stage creates systematic empowerment through the multi-dimensional release of spatial value. (2) The role of cultural space in this process has undergone a triple leap from“production object-production tool-production kinetic energy”, and its function has transformed from a static container to a revitalizing medium with the attributes of“cultural gene decoder, industrial element aggregator and system amplifier”. Its function has changed from a static container to a revitalization medium with the attributes of “decoder of cultural genes, aggregator of industrial elements and amplifier of system efficiency”. (3) The core mechanism lies in the dynamic inter-construction of cultural capital and cultural space production, which drives rural revitalization from passive protection to endogenous development. Therefore, in the process of rural revitalization with the help of traditional village culture, it is necessary to deepen the decoding of cultural genes in order to construct the foundation of intellectual property rights, release the production efficacy of cultural space in phases, and at the same time, activate the endogenous power of the main body of cultural space, so as to form a sustainable revitalization paradigm of“gene-space-subject”three-dimensional integration.

The principle of prohibiting the abuse of rights, as a fundamental principle of domestic law in various countries, aims to prevent formally legitimate rights from being exercised in a substantially inappropriate manner. There has long been controversy over whether this principle can be elevated to a general legal principle of international law due to its recognition by various countries. The Second Report of the United Nations General Assembly on General Principles of Law proposes a two-step approach to identifying whether domestic legal principles can be transformed into general legal principles of international law. According to this method of examination, it can be concluded that the principle of prohibiting the abuse of rights has been widely present in major legal systems around the world and has the feasibility and necessity to be applied within the framework of international law. Therefore, it is sufficient to establish it as a general legal principle of international law. The international judicial practice generally recognizes the status of this principle in international law, but there are still controversies in its specific application, including whether the state has the intention to harm the interests of other countries, whether the purpose of exercising the rights is legitimate, whether the way of exercising the rights is reasonable, and the standards for proving the abuse of rights. Given the unique function of this principle in international dispute resolution, it is necessary to promote it in a coordinated manner from three levels: theoretical construction, institutional improvement, and judicial application, so as to overcome the difficulties it faces in practice.
