Abstract: Social welfare attitudes are the barometer of a society, which is the frontier field of the research of social policy. By focusing on the development of the researches of social welfare attitudes since the 1990s, this paper clarifies the main topics of the researches of social welfare attitudes as follows: the diversity of social welfare attitudes, the group heterogeneity of social welfare attitudes, and the correspondence between social welfare attitudes and welfare regimes. It also summarizes the two changes in the perspective and the method of the researches of social welfare attitudes, i.e., the institutional perspective turns to the risk perspective, making it become more diversified and richer; the qualitative approach is rising, which tries to explain the deeper reasons of social welfare attitudes. In the future, to further explain the formation mechanism and feedback path of social welfare attitudes and to grasp the dynamic changes between social welfare attitudes and policies will become a new research direction for the research of social welfare attitudes.
